Dear members of the DJJV,
On November 7, 2025, our honorary president Dr. Jan Grotheer will celebrate his 80th birthday, and we would like to celebrate this occasion together with him and with you.
We are therefore planning an event at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg on January 31, 2026, with the following speakers:
- Prof. Dr. Doris König, former Vice President of the Federal Constitutional Court
- Michiharu Hayashi, Judge at the Supreme Court of Japan
To celebrate the day in style, we would like to invite you to the premises of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg from 3:00 p.m. The actual lecture event will begin there at 3:30 p.m. Following the lectures, there will be a reception on the premises. We very much look forward to welcoming you to Hamburg on this day, together with many other guests.
At this point, I would also like to make an organizational note: Since we know that many members do not live in Hamburg, we intend to hold our general meeting online this year. We know that the exchange with our members and the members of the Board of Trustees at the general meeting is of particular importance. In the current situation, however, we consider the festive event on January 31, 2026, to be an adequate substitute. We will inform you of the date of the online general meeting in good time in advance.
We would be very grateful if you could let us know by December 15, 2025, whether you will be able to attend the ceremony on January 31, 2026.
