Dear members of the DJJV,
On October 11, 2024, Prof. Dr. Makoto Ida, one of Japan's leading criminal law scholars, will present his recently published book “Die Todesstrafe in Japan - zugleich ein Beitrag zur Strafrechtswissenschaft”, translated into German by Prof. Dr. Matthias K. Scheer, in a lecture in Munich. The lecture will shed light on the death penalty, which is still provided for by law and regularly imposed in Japan, from the perspective of criminal theory and provide insights into the current state of the debate on the death penalty in Japan.
The event is organized by the DJJV in cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Association, the Munich District Association of the Bavarian Judges' Association and the Research Center for Japanese Law at the University of Augsburg. Special thanks go to the President of the Regional Court Munich I, who opened the Palace of Justice for this event.
